Overview:
The workshop is taught via live online Zoom meetings, where we can interact in real time. I will be offering instructional video demonstrations / slideshow presentations, Q & A period, and targeted homework assignments.
As a bonus I will critique selected student homework assignments with video demonstrations that offer suggestions and visual corrections.
Students do not have to participate in the live Zoom meeting. If you miss it or live in a different time zone, you can watch the recorded video presentations later. All classes will be uploaded to a site to watch whenever time allows.
In a private Facebook Group page, students can post homework images, see each others' work, ask of myself and each other for feedback.

The Advantage of the Facebook Group:
After you register you'll be invited to join a private Facebook page where you can interact with your classmates...or choose not to. It is not mandatory to post any work or participate on FB, but you will learn more by doing so.
When I take workshops I often learn so much from seeing how other artists in the class have handled the same challenges. I see all the unique interpretations and choices that others have made which helps me realize new ideas and possibilities. I notice aspects of other artists' work that I like, which helps me to see new approaches. The FB group setting makes it easy to ask questions, share tips and offer new ideas. It is a very supportive and welcoming environment. Many tight friendships have resulted from the shared artistic journey.

“How to Paint Fast, Loose and Bold”
My book “How to paint fast, loose and bold” explains my approach to bold, loose painting. If you can not attend the workshop, my book would be the next best choice. Although learning from a book is not the same experience as actively working with a teacher, it still offers plenty of valuable information. If you are going to attend the workshop, reading the book is helpful, but not mandatory.

Testamonials from the "Loosen Up 2020" Workshop:

Mindy M.: "I've taken several workshops with Patti, both in person and online. Her courses are positively wonderful as she is both well organized in her material and open-hearted in her delivery. It's rare to find an artist as brilliant as she is who can also break down the underlying constructs for a wide range of students with such clarity. There is much to learn, and Patti makes it fun, interesting and attainable!"
Betty C.: "I've taken in person workshops from Patti, and online workshops over several years and have learned more about painting, color theory, composition, and more, than I've ever had from college classes and other art classes. She gives of her own experience about art that you don't get from most teachers. Her color theory classes are outstanding. I would recommend all of her art books she has written. She's an outstanding teacher and I'm grateful she's continuing these online classes. Thanks Patti.
Lark S.: "Thanks for a really great class, Patti. I did some stretching and loved what I ended up with. You are so very patient, kind and generous."
Nancy S.: "Patti is a fabulous teacher - generous with her time, her knowledge, her inspiration and her encouragement. Her lessons are loaded with information, but are so well organized and geared for all levels. She takes the painting process and breaks it down into smaller digestible parts and creates the homework assignments (which are optional) to support the lesson. I absolutely LOVE the homework as it provides an opportunity to practice one fundamental, approach, technique etc at a time. Her demos are clear and although she shows us what she does, she encourages us not to copy - but to practice and experiment in order to figure out our own creative voice. The FB group is a safe place to do just that, as we share our work and bounce things off each other with Patti's guidance throughout. This was my 5th workshop with Patti ( a testament in itself). I've been able to dig a little deeper with each one, and come away feeling like I've grown in some way!"
Jackie H.: "This was my third online class with Patti. I have taken an in person workshop with her as well. This is tribute to Patti's exceptional instruction and her amazing work.
The color workshops, have such a great information for value and color. I highly recommend them.
The "Loosen Up" workshop contains brilliant gems of information which immediately improved my work. I primarily paint in watercolors and can see these ideas transfer easily to that medium.
The homework assignments are challenging and very rewarding. The camaraderie and feedback of the online group is fun and encouraging."
